Today’s energy: Okay

1 small win at work: I was rested up after 3 days off. I took a personal day to attend the Ohio State Fair with my mother.

1 small win at home: I cut my lawn before my 3 days that I took off, so I could enjoy them.

1 small win for myself: I have started the long process of cataloging my entire rock and crystal collection.

What helped me: I went to the Ohio State Fair in Columbus, OH, with my mother during the week. I enjoyed the fairground rides and food offerings. Fried Oreos (a delicacy in my opinion), pretzels, a bucket of fries, and a big ol’ slushie! For rides, I got to do the Iron Dragon roller coaster (not to be confused with the roller coaster of the same name at Cedar Point), two of the three loop-the-loop rides, a drop tower, a centrifuge ride, and a giant slide – biggest one I’ve ever seen at a fairground. My mother and I also did the chairlift ride, round-trip. The fairgrounds also had a natural park-like area with a pond, calming scenery, and lots of flowers and trees. Very peaceful.

What was hard this week: At the Ohio State Fair, my mom had won free concert tickets in a sweepstakes. The concert was “Weird Al” Yankovic. The concert itself was fine, but for my autism, it was a sensory issue nightmare. The seats on the floor were scrunched in like sardines. The strobe lights, the concussive blasts from the area speakers, and the general noise and hubbub was simply too much for me. We left the concert early before the final song was performed. Not a fault of Weird Al whatsoever. I am just not a stickler for concerts.
